New Rising Sun is a Belgian roots-rock band that started on the streets of Antwerp in 2007. What began as a chance encounter between singer-songwriter Dries Bongaerts and guitarist David Hermans, busking near the Cathedral, quickly grew into a shared musical vision grounded in storytelling, folk, blues, and rock.

From the outset, the band focused on honest songwriting and organic arrangements, blending intimate acoustic passages with a rich full-band sound. Between 2008 and 2015, New Rising Sun released several recordings and toured extensively across Belgium, building a solid reputation in the alternative and roots scene. Their music is marked by emotional depth, layered instrumentation, and a timeless, Americana-influenced feel, shaped by a distinctly European perspective.

Now, New Rising Sun enters a new chapter. With founding members Bongaerts and Hermans joined by Roy and Charlie, the band brings fresh energy and new dynamics to their sound. New material is currently being released as a digital EP of eight songs, with more music already in the works. Reconnected with their roots and focused on the future, New Rising Sun is ready to move forward once again.
